About Us

A family tradition of safe, compassionate transport

Since 1986, Basit Ambulette has been getting New Yorkers to their medical appointments with the courtesy, comfort, and care they deserve.

Our Story

From one ambulette in Brooklyn to a trusted NYC institution

Basit Ambulette was founded in 1986 by Basit Tariq with a simple belief: every person deserves safe, dignified transportation to their medical appointments — regardless of their physical abilities or financial circumstances.

What started as a single ambulette serving the neighborhoods of Brooklyn quickly grew into one of New York City's most dependable non-emergency medical transport providers. Our growth has never come from advertising — it has come from positive referrals by loyal patients and the medical providers who trust us with their clients. That word-of-mouth reputation is our greatest asset, and we guard it every single day.

We are and always have been a family-run business. Under Mr. Tariq's leadership, every decision — from hiring drivers to maintaining our vehicles — is guided by a personal commitment to the people who ride with us. As demand grew, we expanded to a larger facility with a centralized dispatch center, ensuring efficient communication with every driver in our fleet across all five boroughs.

Our drivers don't just drive — they assist passengers from their front door, help them into the vehicle, and escort them to the facility entrance. For many of our passengers, the ride with us is the easiest part of their day, and we take pride in that.

Our Values

What drives everything we do

Courtesy

Every interaction — from the phone call to the drop-off — is marked by genuine politeness and respect. Our passengers are not numbers; they are neighbors.

Comfort

Clean, climate-controlled vehicles. Smooth rides. Patient drivers who take the time to ensure every passenger is settled and secure before the wheels turn.

Care

We treat every passenger like family. Door-to-door assistance, gentle handling of wheelchairs and walkers, and a genuine concern for each person's well-being.

Punctuality

A missed appointment can mean a missed treatment. We plan routes carefully, leave early, and communicate proactively if anything changes. On time, every time.

Safety

Vehicles inspected before every shift. Wheelchair lifts tested daily. Drivers trained in passenger assistance and defensive driving. No shortcuts, ever.

Integrity

Honest billing, transparent communication, and a handshake that still means something. We've built our reputation over 40 years and guard it every single day.

"Serving with courtesy, comfort and care!"
